The room was nice, it was across the yard from the pub which was good. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The room was great value as breakfast was included and it was gorgeous. Staff were very nice. Parking advice: we were given a postcode to park but couldn't find it. If you follow the postcode then turn right (opposite Tescos) go through what looks like housing parking right down to the end, through a very narrow arch and there's parking there. Tesco car park is free for 2 hours if you want to check for spaces first. We were also previously given a postcode by the hotel for a local car park but it wasn't overnight, it was short stay, so research your car parks beforehand as there are long stay in Oakham too. Apart from the parking issue, we had a lovely stay.

Nice hotel attached to a pub in the heart of Oakham. We stayed in the 4-poster bedroom which was large with a brilliant en-suite. But it is a drawback for a premium priced room (£130 per night !!) Rutland Water only 10 minute drive away- great for walks and stop off at the Hornblowers sister pub The Finch on the Hambleton peninsular for refreshments on the way back Breakfast was good with plenty of options and well cooked. We also ate in one evening and again food and service were good. Second night we ate at 10 Dining Street just around the corner. Great Indian with a BYO drinks policy. Defintiely enhanced the visit.

A lovely period building in a central location with parking. The food morning and evening was superb . The staff were first class, especially Patrick and Amy. There was a fire in the main building during our stay, which, thankfully, no one was hurt and was dealt with quickly . The stand-out people were the other guests, and Patrick and Amy who looked after us and found alternative accommodation extremely quickly in the late evening . Once the Hornblower is renovated, it will certainly be a place to stay again.

Perfectly located in the centre of Oakham. Lovely cooked breakfast, with some nice healthy options. Spacious, comfortable room. Huge comfortable bed. Quiet. Excellent food in the restaurant in the evening. Staff were generally friendly, especially the morning team. The place had a lovely old-fashioned atmosphere. It was very pleasant to sit in the bar for afternoon tea.

There was a lovely, homely feeling about the place. Staff were well mannered and attentive. We booked a table for our evening meal and in addition to the general menu we were offered the festive menu, which came as 2 or 3 courses. We only wanted the main course, and there was no problem with this, and it was a very good and tasty meal. The breakfast was great.
